Brief Intro

Robert Howard was elected the Alderman for the Ward of Cornhill in the City of London in October 2015. Previously he was Councilman for the Ward of Lime Street.

Robert has worked for over 25 years at Charles Stanley, an investment management and stockbroking firm based in Cornhill Ward in the City. He is the fourth generation of his family to work in the business and to be involved in the civic City. He is currently the President of the Lime Street & Cornhill Ward Club.

As a member of the City’s Education Board, Robert is heavily involved in the educational work of the City Corporation. He is a trustee of the City of London Academies Trust, responsible for ten academies across inner London, and is Chair of Governors at two City schools: City of London Academy Shoreditch Park and the new City Junior School, as well as being a Governor of two independent schools, the City of London School for Girls and City of London Freemen’s.

He is a member and former Chair of the Investment Committee, which oversees the authority’s property and investment portfolios, which between them support the significant contribution that the City Corporation makes both to the City and to London more widely. During his time as Councilman and now Alderman, he has served on a wide range of City Corporation committees.

The role of Alderman is unpaid and non-political, representing a commitment to the civic life of the City of London.
